Teal Beck House care home takes part in national celebration

Residents from a care home in Otley will be joined by children and adults for a day of intergenerational activities as part of a nationwide celebration of the care sector.

Anchor’s Teal Beck House care home in Teal Beck Approach will be participating in Care Home Open Day (CHOD) on Friday 28 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.

This year’s theme is the arts, so staff from Teal Beck House have organised for 20 pupils, aged over 13, from Prince Henry’s Grammar School jazz band to play to the residents. A group of eight year olds from Bonds Dance School will perform to everyone at the home on the day.

Home Manager Louise Bulcock said: “People don’t realise how we transform older people’s lives for the better here so Care Home Open Day is the chance for people to find out what a care home is really like.

“For many people, the first time they come into contact with the care sector is when their relative can’t cope living in their home. Our doors are always open to people but we hope CHOD will be the opportunity the local community to visit us so we can answer their questions.

“They can also join in the fun activities on the day which we regularly organise for our residents to improve their mental and physical well-being. We’re really looking forward to having so many young visitors join us for the day because the residents love interacting with the younger generation.”
