  • Anchor Hanover take part in National Inclusion Week 2020

28 September 2020

Anchor Hanover take part in National Inclusion Week 2020

Anchor Hanover continues to highlight the importance of inclusion in the workplace by taking part in National Inclusion Week for the fourth year.

Created by Inclusive Employers, National Inclusion Week, which runs from Monday 28 September to Sunday 4 October, aims to promote inclusion in all its forms.

Ruth PetzoldThis year’s theme is ‘Each one, reach one’ – a message focusing on the opportunities we have to connect with other people.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager, Ruth Petzold, and the four colleague EDI networks have planned a full week of activities, including:

  • Sharing case studies to celebrate the diversity of colleagues and residents across the organisation
  • A webinar open to all colleagues during which members of the BAME, Disability, Rainbow and Inclusive Ambassador colleague networks will outline their action plans, invite suggestions and feedback and encourage others to join
  • Encouraging as many colleagues as possible to complete their diversity data on the HR system to allow us to better monitor success of our inclusion campaigns and highlight where support may be needed
  • Highlighting the wide range of materials available to support our colleagues and managers, such as guides for how to support trans+ colleagues or those going through menopause
  • Promoting the various learning and development opportunities Anchor Hanover offers such as elearning on managing stress and mental health awareness, webinars on subjects including Trans Awareness or accredited qualifications such as the Level 2 certificate in Equality and Diversity in the Workplace

Richard McKenna, Managing Director, Inclusive Employers, said:

It’s fantastic to see that Anchor Hanover is joining employers up and down the country by taking part in National Inclusion Week 2020. This shows that they take building inclusive workplaces seriously and I welcome their commitment to do so. I’m really excited to see how they use National Inclusion Week as a force for change and celebration and hope others will be inspired to follow their lead, wherever they are in their inclusion journey.

The week also features a celebration of the organisations participating in Inclusive Employers Standard, an accreditation tool from Inclusive Employers which recognises organisations’ commitment to creating more inclusive workplaces. Anchor Hanover has participated in this for the first time in 2020 and we are keen to receive the results later this month to understand how we can continue to make improvements to create a truly inclusive environment for our colleagues and residents.

Find out more about how Anchor Hanover aim to make diversity and inclusion an everyday reality for our residents and colleagues here.

More information about National Inclusion Week and how to get involved is available via the Inclusive Employers website here.
