Anchor Hanover has signed up to the Care Leaver Covenant

The Care Leaver Covenant is part of the Government’s ‘Keep on Caring’ strategy to support young people leaving care to become independent. 

There are some 70,000 children in care in England. A large proportion of them will leave their care setting poorly prepared for independence, often lacking the appropriate resources to obtain and hold down a job or the skills needed to manage their financial affairs and domestic arrangements. 

In 2016, 40% of all care leavers aged between 19 and 21 were not in employment, education or training, compared to 14% of 19 – 21-year olds overall. 

The Covenant commitment made by organisations to support people leaving care in their transition to independence.

Anchor Hanover has signed up to the Care Leaver Covenant and is making two pledges:

1. Care leavers can contact a named colleague in the Anchor Hanover recruitment team to arrange a 1:1 workshop (face-to-face or Skype). This can be around job searching, a CV workshop or interview skills depending on their specific needs. They will also receive a ‘Top Tips’ booklet to take away with them
2. Young people applying for entry level roles in our support hubs in London or Bradford through the Care Leavers Covenant will receive a guaranteed telephone interview with a member of our recruitment team, along with detailed feedback.
