All new Anchor residents to be vaccinated on moving in

With the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations fully underway, we’re delighted to say that all new residents joining our care homes will also be prioritised for a vaccination upon moving in.

The health and wellbeing of our residents and colleagues remains of the utmost importance and we are doing everything we can to safeguard them from the virus. 

We’re working in close collaboration with Public Health England and local health teams to ensure all our colleagues and residents are able to receive the vaccine as quickly as possible – and that includes anyone who joins one of our homes over the coming months. 

Derek Knight, new resident at Greenacres care home in Banstead, recently received his jab and told us:

I'm over the moon at being vaccinated! I cannot wait for life to return to normal and to get back out in the community doing the things I love - the library, shopping and the pub!

Many of our other existing residents, as well as our frontline care colleagues, have also already received their first dose of the vaccine. 

Kristy Smith, home Manager of St Mary’s care home in Ipswich, outlined the sense of protection the vaccine is affording:

We received our vaccines yesterday and the overwhelming sense of relief was palpable.  Colleagues and residents sang and clapped as the nurses arrived to administer this life-saving vaccine - we all felt very strongly that history was being made. What a day to remember! The joy, the coming together like never before and the sense that we are all now safer than we have been for the last 10 months. We feel blessed.
