Buckingham Lodge Care welcomed a very special guest to open new shop
Residents, relatives and staff of Buckingham Lodge Care and residential home welcomed a very special guest to open their newly created shop.
Deputy mayor Cllr Tuffnail Hussain was proudly invited to open the shop by the home.
Home manager, Craig Summers, explains that the shop, requested by the residents, will enable normality and independence for residents, and enhance their day to day living.
The convenience shop; stocking everyday items that residents may require, from shampoo to chocolate, has been named by Team Leader Lou Pennington.
Lou explains that the Forget-me-not stop is not only indicative of the convenient nature of the vintage inspired space, but a sensitive narrative for those living with dementia, as the Forget-me-not flower is the well-known symbol of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The forget-me-not stop will be run by residents of Buckingham Lodge.
Residents enjoyed refreshments, including freshly baked biscuits and scones, prepared by the home’s catering team, and thoroughly enjoyed the warm conversation with our deputy mayor.
Buckingham Lodge would like to thank the deputy mayor for opening the store and for his kind words about our staff and our home.
