Why I’m part of the Residents’ Communications Group
I’m Barbara, Chair of the Residents’ Communications Group, and one of the main reasons I stay involved is because the Group has a real influence on how information is shared with residents.
Recently, the group was heavily involved in a data collection exercise. We looked at the letter and the survey before they were sent out and changes were made as a result of our feedback. This was important to make sure the questions and wording worked well for residents. 96% of residents responded, which we see as a real achievement and a good example of how effective clear communication can be.
There is always a range of work coming up. Next, we will be looking at the draft Resident Communications Strategy, giving residents a voice in how communication is handled going forward.
We are also involved each year in reviewing the budget documents that are sent to all residents. Looking at the financial information is an important part of the Group’s work and helps make sure it is clear and understandable.
The Communications Group covers a wide range of areas, because communication happens in different ways. This includes written communications such as newsletters and Life magazine, information on noticeboards and content on the website. We will also soon be reviewing the website and the Residents’ Handbook.
If you are interested in how information is shared and want to be involved in shaping it, the Communications Group gives you the opportunity to do that. Please email [email protected] to find out more about joining the group
