Help shape and improve Anchor services
We're looking for two residents living in Anchor rented housing to join the Resident Council and help shape the services we provide.
This is a brilliant opportunity for you to share your experiences, ideas and feedback, help us understand what's working well, where improvements can be made and how we can better support your fellow residents across our housing communities.
What you'll be involved in
As a member of the Resident Council, you'll help review and improve services relating to:
- Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
- Safeguarding and resident safety
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Share your experiences and ideas
- Help us identify what's working well and where changes are needed
- Review information and provide feedback
- Work with other residents and colleagues to help improve services
- Make sure residents' voices are heard in decision-making
Who can apply?
You must:
- Live in Anchor rented housing
- Be interested in helping improve services
- Feel comfortable sharing your views and experiences
- Be willing to work collaboratively with others
Experience of anti-social behaviour and/or safeguarding, either through your own experiences or by supporting others, would be helpful but is not essential.
What's the time commitment?
This is a voluntary role.
The Resident Council holds:
- Four formal meetings each year
- Additional meetings approximately every six weeks, usually lasting around two hours
Most meetings take place online. Two meetings each year are held in person, alternating between locations in the north and south of England.
Meeting papers are provided in advance, and members are expected to read these and prepare for discussions. On average, the role requires around half a day per month.
Training and support will be provided to help you feel confident in the role.
Expenses and support
Travel and accommodation costs for in-person meetings will be arranged and paid for by Anchor in advance wherever possible, so you don't need to pay upfront and claim expenses back later.
Why get involved?
By joining the Resident Council, you'll be able to:
- Make a real difference to the services residents receive
- Help influence decisions that affect residents
- Meet other residents from across Anchor
- Develop new skills and confidence
- Ensure residents' voices are represented and heard
