Celebrating The Great Big Green Week: small actions, big impact
Every year, The Great Big Green Week gives people across the UK a brilliant reason to pause, look around and ask ourselves a simple question: what can we do, right now, to make a difference?
What is The Great Big Green Week?
From 6 to 14 June 2026, more than a million people across the UK will come together to take action for their communities, for nature and for the climate. It’s an opportunity for people from all walks of life to take simple, meaningful steps that make a difference. This year, Anchor is proud to be joining them, and we want every single one of you to be part of it.
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. During the week, communities, schools, households and more join together in a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Taking action together for good shows our support for a safer, greener, fairer future, and that is exactly what Anchor stands for.
Why it matters to our community
As residents, we all play a role in shaping a cleaner, healthier place to live. By making more sustainable choices we can:
- Reduce energy costs
- Protect local wildlife
- Support local farms and their produce
- Improve local air quality
- Create resilient communities.
What can we all do?
There are many actions we can all take to play our part for the planet. Why not challenge yourself to do one of these actions during June. You might even find that it becomes a permanent new habit.
- Switch off lights when you leave the room
- Donate or swap items instead of throwing them away
- Get involved in a local litter pick or beach clean
- Start a conversation with a friend about the environment
- Try reducing your meat and dairy
- Walk, cycle or use public transport instead of the car
- Use energy efficient bulbs.
