What could my new rented home be like?
Our rental properties for over 55s include studio flats, one, two or three-bedroom properties and bungalows, providing you with an array of choice.
All our properties to rent are purpose-built and well maintained, and offer you a comfortable home for your future.
Each property is completely self-contained with your own front door, offering the privacy and independence you expect, and equipped with fully-fitted kitchen units and ample storage space. Retaining your individuality and independence is important, therefore you’re free to decorate your new home as you wish.
Room to make friends
A range of shared facilities complement each private residence at each of our rented housing locations. These communal areas include shared lounge areas, attractive gardens and occasionally, conservatories.
Also known as sheltered housing or retirement housing, our housing to rent estates welcome anyone aged 55 or over whether you're retired or not, and have a community feel where people can interact with fellow tenants and get to know their neighbours should they wish to.
In some of our rented properties tenants’ social committees have been set up so that everyone can be included in the planning and delivery of social events for all tenants to enjoy in the communal areas.
It is completely up to you how much or little you wish to be part of the housing community
In our retirement properties that have a manager’s office you will also be able to enjoy access to the internet via our Wi-Fi network in the communal areas, allowing you to browse the web on your own device in areas such as the shared lounge.
Diverse community
Our residents are from all walks of life and we embrace everyone's diversity. Across our entire organisation we ensure that dignity and respect are central to the way we work, and that the unique contributions of our colleagues and residents are valued and celebrated.
We are also an early adopter of the HouseProud Pledge scheme which was introduced as a result of research into the experiences of LGBT+ people living in social housing.
Plenty of room for guests
If you'd like friends or family to stay when they come to visit, most of our rental properties also have a comfortable guest room which can be used for a small charge. All linen is provided. Find out more about our Guestrooms.
Extra laundry space
Access to a shared laundry in our properties also offers the benefit of freeing up space in your flat and most have both washers and a tumble dryer.
Pet friendly
We understand that if you have a pet they're a very important part of your life. Anchor properties are pet friendly environments and you are welcome to bring your pets with you, as long as you arrange this with the manager before you move. Find out more about our pet-friendly approach here.
The benefits of studio living
Our studio flats are easy to manage and homely, and can be perfect if you are looking to downsize to a smaller property.
Each studio has its own kitchen, spacious bathroom, bedroom/lounge, entrance hallway and lots of in-built storage. Cleaning larger properties can be tiring and time consuming. Downsizing in your retirement means you can commit more time to enjoying leisure activities without having to worry about lots of cleaning work. Studios are also an economical option as they are inexpensive to rent and cheaper to heat than larger properties.
Our one, two- and three-bedroom rental properties and bungalows are perfect for couples or friends who want to share, and offer comfortable and well decorated living space and ample storage space.
