The first month of my mum's stay at Bethune Court has been a rollercoaster of emotions for her and the family. The staff at Bethune Court have helped to smooth this transition and cannot be praised enough. Nothing is too much trouble for them as they continue to put my mum's needs at the top of their agenda. Their door is always open and they are k… een to offer advice and a smile. The home itself is clean, fresh and welcoming and I would not hesitate in recommending it for your loved one.

We are very pleased with the care Mum has received since moving to Bethune Court. Having previously been very independent, she initially found it difficult to adjust to living in a care home but with the support of all the kind and patient staff, she has slowly but surely started to settle. She enjoys taking part in some of the many and varied acti… vities on offer. Unfortunately, Mum has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and the staff are doing everything they can to support both Mum and us, as a family, on this journey.

What started out as a trial respite has turned into a permanent stay as I have had a health problem diagnosed. I couldn't be happier with Bethune Court. Mum has settled in so well, she loves the food and is making friends. She has gone from being at home, feeling isolated to chatty and cheerful. From the very first visit, we've been made welcome an… d the communication has been great. Thank you to all concerned for making the transition so smooth.

Family and friends who visited my wife on her two-and-a-half-week stay all reported she was happy and cheerful and that the staff were excellent. This was a great relief to me as it was her first experience of a respite stay.

Bethune Court - Accommodation

We know how important mealtimes are and like them to be a sociable and enjoyable part of the day. Our experienced chefs attend Anchor's Cater Craft training course which enables them to understand the nutritional requirements of elderly people and to ensure all meals are prepared from fresh, seasonal ingredients.

We serve tasty, wholesome, good food and our menus change regularly with a daily choice available. We also cater for residents with special dietary needs and create a “dining atmosphere” by decorating these areas in colours that stimulate the appetite and create ambiance.

Our staff respect individual preferences. All these factors boost residents appetites and enable them to enjoy their meal, which is essential in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Bethune Court - Dining

Our care home organises and arranges a variety of opportunities for our residents to enjoy daily activities in our home and in the local community.

We work in partnership with the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA) and encourage activities that enhance our residents’ lifestyle, health and wellbeing.

Residents preferred activities, interests and ability are discussed when they move in and an agreed plan ensures that these requests are fulfilled (wherever possible). Our residents’ suggestions for activities also help shape the planning process.

We organise supervised day trips to leisure facilities and places of interest as well as social events in the home, including themed restaurant evenings, arts and crafts, quizzes and regular entertainers.

The following extra items and services are not covered by the weekly fees, however we can arrange for them to be provided (at an additional cost):
- professional hairdressing
- personal copies of newspapers or magazines
- personal purchases such as stationery, confectionery, toiletries etc.
- clothing, shoes and slippers
- dry cleaning

In the absence of free provision by the NHS, we can also arrange for the following healthcare services to be provided, these will be charged in addition to the weekly fees:
- chiropody

- physiotherapy
- other privately arranged healthcare
- care staff accompaniment to regular medical appointments.

No upfront deposit is required at any of Anchor’s care homes to secure a room.
