Hosting our very own World Cup games

Care homes around Liverpool and The Wirral hosted their very own FIFA World Cup

Inspired by the 2022 FIFA World Cup, colleagues, and residents from care homes around Liverpool and The Wirral went head-to-head with their own fierce footballing competition. 

The purpose of hosting a football event was to celebrate the start of the FIFA World Cup. An indoor football pitch was hired for the event and each home had a team of residents to represent their home. All 8 homes within the region joined in the event and was concluded in dramatic fashion with Hurst Park Court winning on a penalty shootout. 

Residents wore coloured t-shirts depending on which care home they were playing for. There was also an open bar, so residents had access to refreshments throughout the day.

These events allow residents to enjoy events that are happening around the world in their own way. Residents who came on the day loved the event, particularly when colleagues from each home split into 2 teams and had a 15-minute game of football. They showed their support for care colleagues by cheering them on and waving their scarves.
