Residents from a care home in Peterborough and their guests will be enjoying a day of arts and crafts as part of a nationwide celebration.
Anchor’s Clayburn Court care home in Clayburn Road will be participating in Care Home Open Day (CHOD) on Friday 28 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.
This year’s theme is the arts, and Clayburn Court have organised for Creative Mojo to run a sewing and embroidery session for the residents and visitors on the day. They will also be treated to an ice cream tasting session before pianist and singer Lincoln Noel performs hits from the 1950s and 1960s at the home.
Home Manager Tina Dauncey said: “People don’t realise how we transform older people’s lives for the better here so Care Home Open Day is the chance for people to find out what a care home is really like.
“For many people, the first time they come into contact with the care sector is when their relative can’t cope living in their home. Our doors are always open to people but we hope CHOD will be the opportunity the local community to visit us so we can answer their questions.
“They can also join in the fun activities on the day which we regularly organise for our residents to improve their mental and physical well-being.”
