Buckingham Lodge care home takes part in national celebration

Residents from a care home in Aylesbury will be joined by nursery children for a special arts and crafts session as part of a nationwide celebration.
Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge care home in Culpepper Close will be participating in Care Home Open Day (CHOD) on Friday 28 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.
This year’s theme is the arts, and Buckingham Lodge has organised for the Crazy Ladies Crafting group to hold the session with residents and children from the Big Top nursery. Guests visiting the home on the day are also invited to take part.
After all their hard work, the old and young artists will be treated to a barbecue lunch followed by an entertainer who will sing tunes popular with the residents.
Regional Support Manager Katherine Mahoney said: “People don’t realise how we transform older people’s lives for the better here so Care Home Open Day is the chance for people to find out what a care home is really like.
“For many people, the first time they come into contact with the care sector is when their relative can’t cope living in their home. Our doors are always open to people but we hope CHOD will be the opportunity the local community to visit us so we can answer their questions.
“They can also join in the fun activities on the day which we regularly organise for our residents to improve their mental and physical well-being.”
