  • Merry Christmas from Jane Ashcroft

Merry Christmas from Jane Ashcroft

In her 2020 Christmas message Anchor Hanover's Chief Executive, Jane Ashcroft takes the opportunity to say thank you to colleagues, residents, relatives and the whole Anchor Hanover family for their continued hard work through what has been an unexpected and challenging year.

Hello there, well, 2020 certainly hasn't been the year we expected it to be and it's been a year of many challenges.

But as we head into Christmas, I want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to my colleagues who have worked so hard this year to focus on the thing that's most important to us at Anchor Hanover, which is the safety and wellbeing of our residents across our services throughout the country.

I really appreciate the hard work that colleagues have undertaken to support our residents. And I also appreciate that for residents and relatives, it's been an unusual year. They've approached these challenges with real good humour and positivity. And I thank everybody who's part of the Anchor Hanover family for that.

Resident wellbeing and colleague wellbeing are absolutely at the heart of everything we do in Anchor Hanover and thank goodness for that in this year. But I'm also pleased that it's a year where we have been able to make progress. We've been able to grow the organisation and provide more services for more people. For example, we announced our partnership with McCarthy and Stone, where we're going to be building nearly 500 more units of affordable and shared ownership housing and we're already on site for two of those developments.

We also continue to lead the sector in our ratings with the Care Quality Commission and with the regulator for social housing. Both of those regulators acknowledging the performance of the organisation.

And most of all, I think we've come together as an organisation to focus on what matters most, which is representing the interests, the well-being, the health of older people moving forward. That's something the whole country's had to focus on this year, and we're absolutely committed at Anchor Hanover to continuing that focus as we move forward into 2021.

So it might not be the Christmas that we normally have, but across Anchor Hanover, we'll be doing everything we can to lift people's spirits and support people. Particularly where we know people can't be with their friends and families in the way that we'd all like to be at Christmas time.

So whatever you're doing at Christmas, however you're marking it, I wish you a peaceful and happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year ahead.
