Local care home has a cracking time with spring chicks
Buckingham Lodge in Aylesbury has hatched eight chicks from eggs in the home. The eggs were placed in a special incubator so that the residents could watch the chicks hatch out of the eggs and grow. On Wednesday 13 April, the eggs hatched, just in time for Easter!
The new arrivals have quickly become the talk of the home with all the residents and care team looking forward to playing with the chicks and watching them grow! As well as observing the hatching process and handling the chicks, residents also spent time doing fun activities and were visited by none other than the Easter Bunny as well.
The home would like to take this opportunity to thank friends from the community and families, and Morrisons, for their generous donations of Easter Eggs, meaning that everyone had a wonderful treat on the day
Simon Meredith, Manager said everyone in the care home was thrilled with the new arrivals!
The chicks are just utterly adorable, we’ve all fallen in love with them! They’ve created a lot of excitement for us. Everybody keeps wanting to come over and visit the chicks.
Our residents have had so much fun feeding the chicks and we were delighted to learn more about them. It’s safe to say the chicks are the new stars of Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge care home.
Anne, resident of the care home, who used to look after chickens when she was younger said:
I’m so pleased that we’ve had the chance to hatch the chickens and that we will be keeping four of them. I’m looking forward to seeing the chickens roaming free in the garden once they grow!
