Going above and beyond during pandemic
A supply buyer at Anchor Hanover’s office in Bradford has received a colleague award for ensuring that his care colleagues were kept safe by managing to secure vital stocks of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rashid Bahadur, 37, works as a buyer for Anchor Hanover’s supply team in Bradford after joining in 2017. At the height of the coronavirus pandemic, when there was an increasing shortage of PPE, Rashid was responsible for maintaining the needed supplies of PPE.
Rashid and his team went to incredible lengths to ensure that all of Anchor Hanover’s care homes and retirement properties had the supplies they needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of his colleagues and the residents they look after.
He worked closely with PPE suppliers to source, and continues to have, a full stock of PPE. He also assisted with the internal distribution system and liaised closely with all parties to ensure that PPE supplies were directed to where they were needed.
In recognition for his efforts, Rashid received an Anchor Hanover colleague award, a peer-based award that allows staff to celebrate their colleagues who have gone the extra mile.
Alan Forbes-Wake, Senior Category Manager at Anchor Hanover, heaped praise on Rashid, saying:
Rashid showed incredible commitment to ensuring we had PPE in the right places at the right time. When faced with a serious challenge, he rolled his sleeves up, got on with what needed doing and took ownership of dealing with the problem successfully.
In tackling PPE, Rashid has demonstrated the core values of Anchor Hanover, he has been accountable, respectful, courageous and honest.
Rashid was delighted by winning the award, saying:
It was a lovely surprise and really nice to be recognised but even better is knowing that our colleagues on the frontline don’t have to worry about having what they need to keep them safe.
It’s been challenging at times, I’ve felt that we as a team have done really well making sure everyone has what they need, that to me is the most important thing.
