Grey Prey hits Parliament
More great news for all Grey Priders, as our campaign to appoint a Minister for Older People was discussed in Parliament on Tuesday for the first time.
Tracey Crouch MP, who secured the Westminster Hall debate on older people's issues, opened her speech by calling for a Minister for Older People, telling MPs of her "strong support for the campaign to appoint a Minister for Older People". Such a post would, she said, "bring huge value to government".
Esther McVey MP, who recently met some of our campaigners, also took part in the debate, telling Paul Burstow, Minister for Care Services, that older people in Britain feel like an "invisible generation" and echoing the call for a Minister for Older People.
Our campaign is now entering a critical time - we have the ear of parliament and so must make sure we use this opportunity to be heard as loudly as possible, and see such a Minister appointed.
The best way to do this is still to sign our petition.
You can watch the debate on Parliament TV here and see exactly what the MPs who took part said.
