Care home residents knit blankets for families in need
Residents from an Eastleigh care home have knitted blankets for needy people in Romania.
Older people, relatives and friends of Anchor’s Orchard Gardens within Bishopstoke Park Retirement Village, have spent some time knitting the blankets for families in the Dorohoi region of the country.
Orchard Gardens Manager Tracy Hibberd said the residents decided they wanted to knit for the charity because they wanted to support those in need. She said: “We hold our ‘Knit and Natter’ group each Wednesday afternoon, which is very popular. The group were keen to do something to help others and have each knitted a square which have then been sewn together to make two lovely blankets.
“Our administrator Rachel will then be taking the blankets to the charity. We hope to support the charity by knitting more blankets and other items.”
Florrie Milton, one of the residents who has helped knit the blankets said, “I enjoyed knitting with the others, whilst having a good natter. I’m now looking forward to knitting scarves for local hospices Naomi House and Jacksplace.”
