Anchor care homes organise art-themed events for care home open day
Anchor’s care homes across the country are inviting their local communities to visit them on Care Home Open Day to find out what life in a care home is like.
The national celebration day is on Friday 28 June with all the meaningful activities for the residents having the theme of The Arts this year.
The day will see residents and staff at the organisation’s homes enjoying meaningful activities, such as sand art classes, glass painting sessions and children and residents doing drawings together.
Opera singers, children dancers and local artists are some of the guests visiting Anchor’s care homes for Care Home Open Day.
Some of the homes are also organising recruitment sessions so anyone wanting to find out about working in care can attend.
Mark Greaves, Anchor’s Managing Director - Care Services, said:
“There’s even more reason this year to tell our local communities about the great work we’re doing. Our compliance in our care homes is nearing 90% and we have eight outstanding rated homes with an ever growing number of homes rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
“Many people don’t realise how we transform older people’s lives for the better in our care homes so Care Home Open Day (CHOD) is the perfect opportunity for the local community to find out what a care home is really like.
“The first time many people come into contact with the care sector is when their relative can’t cope living in their home.
“The doors of our care homes are always open to visitors but people can visit their local care home on Friday 28 June so they can ask questions about care and also join in the fun activities on the day which we regularly organise for our residents to improve their mental and physical well-being.
“We are also looking forward to meeting anyone interested in working in care at selected homes on the day.
“Anchor is a great place for our residents to live, and for our employees to work and develop their careers.”
