Loving Later Life Awards

Our Loving Later Life Awards recognise those residents who make a real difference at their Anchor location.

Any resident can be nominated and award winners will receive £100 of gift vouchers, as well as some well-deserved recognition for the positive impact they have where they live.

Perhaps you know someone with an unrivalled sense of community, who offers others support and kindness. Do you have a creative neighbour with brilliant ideas that brighten up your location and make others feel welcome at all times? If there is someone where you live that brings others joy then let us know!

We welcome nominations from fellow residents, colleagues, friends and family, so, if you know someone who makes a difference where they live make sure you nominate them for one of the nine awards below. 

The award categories

Local Legend 

This award celebrates a location that truly stands out for all the right reasons. Whether it’s because of a strong sense of community, brilliant activities, welcoming spaces, or something unique that makes it special, this place goes above and beyond to create a great later life experience. A true Local Legend is somewhere people are proud to call home. 

Helpful Hero 

The Helpful Hero award recognises a person who consistently makes a real difference to others.
This could be someone who offers support, kindness, encouragement, or simply takes time to help when it’s needed most. Big or small, their actions have a positive impact and do not go unnoticed. 

Pawsome Pet 

This award is for a much loved pet who brings joy, comfort, and smiles.
It could be a personal pet or an adored location pet who brightens everyone’s day. Whether they offer companionship, encourage social interaction, or just make people laugh, this pet is truly pawsome. 

Bloomin’ Marvellous Gardener 

For the person or location behind truly beautiful gardens.
This award celebrates effort, creativity, and care put into outdoor spaces, from colourful flower beds to peaceful green areas. These gardens enhance wellbeing, lift spirits, and give everyone something lovely to enjoy. 

Involvement Icon  

This award recognises a resident who is making a difference by being actively involved in a formal resident group.
Their voice, commitment, and willingness to represent others help shape services, influence decisions, and ensure residents’ views are heard and valued. 

Neighbour Like No Other 

Just as it says on the tin this award is for a neighbour who truly goes above and beyond.
Whether they offer friendship, practical help, or simply look out for others, this person helps make their community a kinder, more supportive place to live. 

Environmental Champion 

The Environmental Champion award celebrates someone who is environmentally aware and actively trying to make positive change.
From recycling and reducing waste to encouraging greener habits or leading eco-friendly initiatives, this person is helping to protect the planet for future generations. 

Amazing Ally 

This award recognises someone who stands up for others and promotes inclusion.
An Amazing Ally supports fairness, kindness, and respect, helping everyone feel welcome, valued, and safe to be themselves. Their actions help build a stronger, more inclusive community. 

Fabulous Fundraiser 

This award celebrates someone who goes the extra mile to raise money for a good cause.
Whether they organise events, take on personal challenges, or inspire others to give, their fundraising efforts make a real difference and deserve recognition.

Celebrating you 

Every nominee will receive a certificate to congratulate them and be invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony hosted by the Chief Executive, where the winners will be announced.

Part of celebrating these residents making such a difference at their Anchor location will require winners and those shortlisted to feature in their local newspaper, on the Anchor websites and on social media (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn etc.).
