Environmental Forum

The Resident Environmental Forum (REF) acts a consultation body for major Anchor initiatives relating to sustainability and the environment, acting as advocates for sustainability and environmental matters. 

By focusing on education, action, and collaboration, the REF empowers other residents to contribute through initiatives like recycling, wildlife support, and shaping Anchor’s future. In 2023, the REF played a vital role in shaping Anchor’s sustainability strategy and continues to serve as a key stakeholder in its ongoing governance alongside the resident's council. 

Current and upcoming projects 

The REF have recently been working on a review of Anchor's lighting policy, consulting on Anchor's Sustainability Pathway and producing a series of new educational resources on a range of topics.

Net Zero resources

Explaining what the term "Net Zero" means and highlighting some actions everyone can take to help balance out our carbon emissions, the REF have produced a leaflet which they invite you to download and share:

The Hungry Gap resources

The REF have also been working to raise awareness and understanding of how people can support bees March-April each year when food is scarce for them. The REF invite you to watch, download and share the resources they have created below:

Climate change and adaptation

In 2024 the REF produced a video discussing how we can make changes in our everyday lives to reduce our carbon footprint and increase local resilience to climate change.

Who are the members of the Resident Environmental Forum? 

There are currently 6 members of the REF, though they work closely with other resident groups such as the Resident Council. Their members represent residents living in rented accommodation and homeownership properties. They are welcome to other like-minded people, passionate about the environment to join the group.
