The Wharf in Rochester, Kent, reaches practical completion
This week we celebrated the practical completion of our new development The Wharf in Rochester, Kent.
Representatives from Anchor and contractor The Hill Group were joined by a number of officials representing Medway Council and several politicians at the event.
These included the Mayor of Medway, Councillor Marian Nestorov, Leader of the Council Councillor Vince Maple, Councillor Louwella Prenter, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Homelessness, and Councillor Alex Paterson, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Highways & Enforcement.
The Wharf offers one-bedroom apartments for rent and two and three-bedroom apartments for sale through shared ownership. All have been designed with the lifestyle and needs of people aged over 55 in mind.
The completion of the development which is already 20% reserved will also provide communal facilities including a residents’ lounge, communal kitchen, activity room, guest suite and a hair and beauty salon.
Khuram Kaur, Sales Director at Anchor said:
The practical completion of The Wharf marks an exciting step for us. Our aim with this site was to provide homes for older people set within a peaceful yet vibrant community and this development has delivered exactly that, aligning with our vision of creating an average of 500 homes a year over a rolling ten-year period.
We are looking forward to welcoming our new residents and ensuring they receive the very best service, as part of our provision of homes where people love living in later life.
Councillor Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said:
It was fantastic to go down and see the practical completion of The Wharf in Rochester, and really exciting to be able to cut the ribbon.
It is incredibly important that there are appropriate homes for residents of all ages in Medway, and this piece of work is a great example of partnership working. I look forward to seeing the community grow and thrive in the future.
Simon Trice, Managing Director at The Hill Group commented:
It is fantastic to see this project coming to fruition. Hill has worked with Anchor extensively for many years and we are proud to have been selected as their delivery partner on another high quality, energy-efficient development, creating much-needed later living homes within the community at Rochester Riverside.
Riverside living and excellent amenities make Rochester and The Wharf the perfect place for later living. As part of Rochester Riverside’s wider regeneration programme, the area will soon benefit from new public open spaces, retail and leisure facilities and improvements to gateways between the river and the High Street.
