Annesley Lodge care home takes part in national celebration

Residents from a care home in Hucknall and their guests will be given drawing lessons as part of a nationwide celebration.

Anchor’s Annesley Lodge care home in Annesley Road will be participating in Care Home Open Day (CHOD) on Friday 28 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.

This year’s theme is the arts and crafts group Creative Minds will be holding drawing and sketching sessions for residents and guests visiting Annesley Lodge on the day. Staff will also be manning a stall at a summer fete on the day, selling items made by residents and staff, such as bird boxes, cards and trinkets.

Singer Alex Bellfield will entertain those at the home after their barbecue lunch.

Deputy Manager Claire Dixon said: “People don’t realise how we transform older people’s lives for the better here so Care Home Open Day is the chance for people to find out what a care home is really like.

“For many people, the first time they come into contact with the care sector is when their relative can’t cope living in their home. Our doors are always open to people but we hope CHOD will be the opportunity the local community to visit us so we can answer their questions.

“They can also join in the fun activities on the day which we regularly organise for our residents to improve their mental and physical well-being.”
