Cavendish Healthcare Group acquired by Anchor

Anchor has further expanded its care home portfolio with the acquisition of the Cavendish Healthcare Group.

The five residential care homes operated by Cavendish in Essex and Suffolk bring the total number of care homes operated by Anchor to 119. They provide a total of 307 additional rooms for older people, including older people with dementia. 

The acquisition follows Anchor’s purchase of 24 care homes from LNT Group, announced earlier today.
 
Anchor Chief Executive Jane Ashcroft said: “These homes represent an excellent opportunity for us to provide happy living for more older people.

“Our business plan sets out a clear growth strategy, based on a combination of new build and the acquisition of existing operational businesses. Our focus is on providing high quality residential care and housing and we’re very pleased to be welcoming residents and our new colleagues to Anchor.”

Kathryn de la Garza, who created the Cavendish Healthcare Group, said: “Anchor’s values fit closely with our own so we are delighted they will be taking on these homes. The organisation’s expertise in residential and dementia care and the quality training it provides for colleagues were among the reasons for the decision to choose Anchor.”

Carterwood acted on behalf of Anchor in the acquisition. Tom Harrison, associate at Carterwood, commented: “This represents Carterwood’s largest deal to date and took just over six months from agreeing the deal to completion. I consider that these homes will make an excellent addition to Anchor’s portfolio and both parties have been a pleasure to work with on the deal.”

All homes are freehold. The homes acquired are:

• Devonshire House, Cavendish, Suffolk: It has a 25 bedroom frail elderly wing, 12 large frail elderly suites and a 32 bedroom dementia care wing
• Blackbrook House, Dedham, Essex: It has a 40 bedroom frail elderly wing and a 15 bedroom dementia care wing
• Canterbury House, Hadleigh, Suffolk: It has 35 bedrooms and seven suites for the frail elderly, and 21 beds for  people who have dementia.
• St Marys, Holbrook, Suffolk: It has a 41 bedroom frail elderly wing and a 19 bedroom dementia care wing.
• St. Josephs, Sudbury, Suffolk: It has a 33 bedroom frail elderly wing and a 27 bedroom dementia care wing.
