Anchor support campaign to tackle the crisis in social care

Anchor is among 80 leading charities backing a petition calling for action to improve the care system.

The Care and Support Alliance is launching its petition to highlight the failures of the care system and urge government action. According to the alliance, more than 1 million people in the country are currently abandoned by the care system which is unable to provide them with the basic care they deserve, like help getting dressed and washed.

Anchor Chief Executive Jane Ashcroft said: “We and many other organisations have urged successive governments to address the needs of our ageing society – but not enough progress has been made. The more noise we can make about this important issue the better”.
