Our culture and values

As an individual, you’re one of a kind. Together, we’re a community.

Find your perfect property

Anchor builds communities of older people who have the opportunity to live their lives in the way they want. We also build a community of highly committed and talented people who create welcoming, supportive environments where residents can thrive.

People choose to work in a job for all kinds of reasons. For some it’s what they’ve always known, for others a childhood dream but for many at Anchor, it’s being able to make a difference to someone else’s life.

National Care Forum LogoPutting others first is exactly what working at Anchor is about. We don’t do what we do for money. We do it for people.

We’re not-for-profit

As a not-for-profit organisation, all the money we make goes back into the business to provide better services for residents and colleagues. That’s because when we make a commitment to care, we’re all in – with our time, effort and every penny.

By reinvesting in the business we can provide a better standard of care and customer service, better wages, more investment in training and development and better facilities.

We’re in it together

One of the best things about working for a not-for-profit like Anchor is that we’re all working together to achieve one goal: to provide homes where older people can love living in later life.  We build communities of highly committed and talented people who create welcoming, supportive environments where residents can thrive.

Every single person at Anchor contributes towards this goal, whether they work in finance, legal, marketing, IT, customer service, property, housing or care directly.

As an organisation, we play a crucial role in society, providing quality care, housing and communities for people to enjoy later life. As an employer, we provide a caring workplace that encourages you to think for yourself, innovate with fresh ideas and values your skills and knowledge.

Our communities are based on our ARCH values

Our culture is all about supporting the individuals who make up our communities. We do this in so many different ways…

Supporting carers, supporting you

As an organisation that cares for and supports so many, we value carers and understand the challenges faced by people that care for others at home. That’s why we’re proud to be an employer that offers the flexibility and support you need to balance your career and responsibilities as a carer.

  • An inclusive recruitment process
  • Flexible working
  • Carer-friendly policies
  • Listening & Acting

Coaching you to develop

We understand that progression and development is important to colleagues. Through coaching  we are encouraged to identify solutions to in turn increase confidence, create high performance, and encourage progression generating talent for the future.

Committed to supporting your mental health

We understand the importance of supporting the wellbeing and mental health of everyone working with us. We’ve signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment, a framework based on research from UK employers and mental health experts, to access a range of cutting edge resources and continually improve the support we offer all colleagues.

Celebrating diversity, celebrating you

Anchor are committed to being a great and inclusive place to work. We want to hear from candidates from all backgrounds especially those who are from underrepresented groups. At Anchor, we live by the values of accountability, respect, courageousness and honesty and they go hand-in-hand with making sure we value diversity and champion an inclusive culture.

We are a member of Inclusive Employers, a Stonewall Diversity Champion and a signatory to the Care Leaver Covenant and HouseProud Pledge schemes.
