Care Assistant jobs at Anchor

As a Care Assistant at Anchor, you’ll make a real and positive impact on the lives of older people every single day.

Our residents have a range of care needs, life stories and personalities – no two days are the same, making the care assistant role as varied as it is rewarding. Care Assistant Jobs at Anchor

What You’ll Do as a Care Assistant at Anchor

Our Care Assistants provide person centred care and support that helps residents stay as independent, active, and fulfilled as possible.

Care Assistants promote choice to residents in their daily living by providing high quality care which meets Care Quality Commissions (CQC) fundamental standards and supports happy living for the years ahead.

Working within one of our care homes, the care assistant job role goes beyond practical support for personal care and mealtimes. You’ll also be a friendly face and a listening ear to those who need it most.

Day to day duties of an Anchor care assistant:

  • Provide dignified personal care and assistance to residents, in line with a care plan.
  • Support residents during mealtimes and activities.
  • Encourage independence, choice, and wellbeing.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support.
  • Keep accurate care records and report / document any concerns.
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Identify and ensure that health and safety standards are met.
  • Identify and report signs of poor practice or abuse.
  • Make sure that all activity complies with CQC essential standards and Anchor procedures.

Care Assistant Role Shifts and Flexibility

While hours will vary depending on the individual role, Care Assistant jobs at Anchor are available in a variety of patterns to suit different lifestyles, often with a combination of both daytime and nighttime work:

  • Day Shifts: Regular daytime working hours, with shift times depending on the individual role.
  • Night Shifts: Providing valuable support for residents overnight.
  • Bank Roles: Provide cover and flexible shifts as and when needed, often with an ability to choose as and when you work. Most bank care assistant roles include both days and nights and work on a flexible zero hour contract. This means you’re not tied to specific shift patterns, ideal for those with other commitments. Hear from our colleague Sam Shaw and find out how they balance university and work as a Bank Care Assistant at Anchor.
  • Shift Work: Roles with a combination of day and nighttime hours.

Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, permanent, or bank / zero hours opportunities, there’s a role at Anchor to fit your schedule.

  • Able to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Positive, resilient and willing to learn.

  • Able to prioritise and plan around residents needs.
