A shih tzu from Leeds has been shortlisted for a Best Pet award. Libby, 10, who lives at Anchor’s Middleton Way in Belle Isle, was nominated by her neighbours for being a faithful furry friend.

Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Libby’s owner Mrs C Wright said: “I am over the moon that Libby is a finalist – she certainly brings happy living to me and my neighbours at Middleton Way so it would make me very proud to win.

“Libby likes to sit in the garden and watch us potter – we have to continue until she’s had enough and starts to get tired just watching us work. She insists on going to the park morning and afternoon to keep us fit and healthy.

“The love and laughter radiates from our Libby.”

A customer panel will be coming together later this month to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in December.
