Birds visiting the garden of Oakleigh care home in Godstone will be treated with new, colourful homes after residents made nest boxes, supervised by activities co-ordinator Ann-Marie Scourfield, to mark National Nest Box Week.
Residents were able to paint and craft their own designs and the boxes were put up around the gardens and courtyard of the home, ready for birds to settle in.
National Nest Box Week takes place each year in February, and after more than 20 years it is now an established part of the ornithological calendar. NNBW aims to encourage everyone to put up nest boxes in their local area in order to promote and enhance biodiversity and conservation of the UK’s breeding birds and wildlife.
Residents at Oakleigh are looking forward to seeing the different birds that make a home in their nest boxes.
