TV newsreader and former Royal correspondent Nicholas Owen officially opened Anchor’s new Austin Place retirement living development in Weybridge on Thursday 14 July.

The famed journalist, television and radio presenter enjoyed a tour of the luxurious retirement apartments and on-site facilities, which include a café, hair and beauty salon, library, roof terrace and landscaped grounds.

He then joined Anchor Chief Executive, Jane Ashcroft CBE, Austin Place Estate Manager, Cheryl Crooks and the first Austin Place residents in raising a glass to Austin Place and cutting the ribbon and a cake to declare the development officially open.

Speaking at the event, Nicholas said: “From meeting the Anchor team and taking a tour of Austin Place today, I can already tell that residents will be very happy here. “The combination of luxurious on-site facilities, thoughtful design and the peace of mind that support is always on hand should you need it creates a wonderfully calm atmosphere. I eagerly await my own retirement!”

Anchor’s Chief Executive, Jane Ashcroft, said: “We are very pleased to be opening this luxurious development in Weybridge and we look forward to becoming part of the local community. The development is part of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care to older people. 

One- and two-bedroom apartments are being offered exclusively for sale through Hamptons International estate agents in Weybridge and Fleet. Prices start at £332,500 for one bedroom apartments, and £375,000 for two bedroom apartments.
