Nelson Lodge care home have launched a Friendship Group to help bring people together for company and interesting activities.

The Group met for the first time on Monday 7  August and enjoyed a visit from the Norris Museum.

The session started off with a talk about the Museum and it’s collection of objects, some of which the Group members were invited to handle. The group then spent time reminiscing about shopping and enjoyed sampling some wartime carrot cake and honey biscuits - austerity treats.

The Friendship Group meet at Nelson Lodge care home and invite the local community to come and join them.

Cliona Pritchard, Customer Relations Manager at Nelson Lodge said: “The Friendship Group is a really great way for people to meet others living nearby and spend time talking about things they are interested in.

“It is also a really good way of bringing new people into our home, many people don’t know what a modern care home is like and we hope visiting for these sessions shows that Nelson Lodge is an open and inviting place full of interesting characters.

“We look forward to inviting more new people in the new year.”
