Anchor’s newest care home, Moore Place in Esher, organised the first talk from the Macular Society this week. The talk attracted residents from the care home as well as people from the local community. Stella Black, Regional Manager for the Macular Society gave an introduction to the Macular Society and the services they provide. The Macular Society is a national charity for anyone affected by macular conditions, dedicated to helping people with macular degeneration, improving treatments and funding research to find a cure. Macular degeneration is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK.

Miranda Morgan, Home Manager for Moore Place said ‘it was good to see people talking to each other who have a similar diagnosis and feeling that they were not going through this alone’.

The next talks are on the 9 June at 11am with Julie Edwards who will talk about the research that goes into the Macular Society and the third talk from James Beston from Calibre Audio Library who will demonstrate the equipment used and will give an introduction into the services they provide.
