Tenants at Merlin Court in Penrith were treated to an afternoon tea on Wednesday 10 February by employees at their new local Marks and Spencer store.
The new M&S store is located just metres from Merlin Court, with many of the residents visiting the new Foodhall daily. M&S said that holding the afternoon tea allowed the team to thank their new neighbours for their support.
Residents were presented with a wide selection of freshly baked scones and other sweet treats from the bakery, as well as tea and coffee. Local musical entertainment was also arranged by Merlin Court’s Scheme Managers, Lynne Thistlethwaite.
M&S Foodhall Store Manager, Matt Marston, said: “Some of our most regular customers live over the road at Merlin Court so we wanted to put on an afternoon tea to thank them for their support. We look forward to their regular visits and hearing the stories they have to share.”
Lynne Thistlethwaite added: “The residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I’m sure they will all be talking about the afternoon for weeks. We’re really grateful to Matt, Craig and the team for their hospitality in-store and at Merlin Court today.”
