More than 70 employees from audit, tax and advisory company KPMG UK showed their caring side by volunteering at six of Anchor’s care homes in London last month.
The team from KPMG, including their managing director, threw themselves into a range of activities including gardening, exercise classes and table top planting with our care home customers.
The volunteers took part in activities as part of their national volunteering day programme and visited Anchor’s Bluegrove House, Waterside, Silk Court, Norton House, St Anne’s and Greenhive care homes.
Anchor’s Customer Engagement Manager Brenda Metcalfe said: “This proved to be an enjoyable day for our customers and colleagues, with many joint activities including building bird boxes, glass painting and customers choosing plants to be potted individually for their rooms.
"The day was rounded off with a cream tea, quizzes and some games which were bought from a generous donation from KPMG.”
Anchor’s Regional Operations Director Trevor West added: “I can only thank the KPMG volunteers on behalf of Anchor and our London care homes for the wonderful support they have given to our homes and our lovely customers, who deserve special things in their lives.
"I'm a great believer in the more you put into life, the more you get out of it. I do hope the KPMG volunteers got lots out of this initiative.”
The day highlighted the benefits of volunteering and coincides with the roll out of Anchor’s national volunteer programme at all Anchor care homes.
