Jane Ashcroft comments on the social care cap announcement
Following Jeremy Hunt’s statement to Parliament Anchor’s Jane Ashcroft comments on the social care cap proposed.
Anchor Chief Executive Jane Ashcroft said: “After years of uncertainty and financial hardship for countless individuals and families, it is good that we are finally getting greater clarity on funding for long term care. But a £75,000 cap would be significantly more than the carefully considered figure calculated by Andrew Dilnot. Many people would still face very significant costs. I applaud the progress but call for more. Capping costs would mean individuals would be able to finally start to plan for the costs of funding their own care and providers would have a more stable market in which to work. The changes need to happen quickly. The social care crisis is far from settled and a great deal more has to be done to protect both current and future generations of older people.”
