A tenant from Bradmore has been shortlisted for a gardening award. Michael Plant, 60 years old, who lives at Anchor’s Inglewood Court in Inglewood Avenue, was nominated by fellow tenants for his hard work in the communal gardens.

Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Michael Plant, who has lived at Inglewood Court for three years, is thrilled to be shortlisted for the Green Fingered Customer Award. He said: “It is brilliant to be nominated. I like to keep myself busy in the garden, not only for my own pleasure but for everyone else at Inglewood Avenue.”

Friend Audrey Orson, who appreciates Michael’s work in the gardens, said: “He has created a beautiful garden by encouraging residents to contribute to buying flowers and plants which he installs and pays for. He lights up everyone’s life.”

A customer panel have come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
