Residents from Eastlake care home have spent weeks baking and decorating a Christmas cake for a regional competition.
Resident’s Jessamine Betteridge 94, Joan Weston 91 and Iris Davis 87, worked with staff and friends from Anchor’s Eastlake care home in Nightingale Road to make a rich branded fruit cake designed to look like an old fashioned Christmas pudding, other designs included a red glittered cake with reindeer and snowflakes and in keeping with the centenary commemorations a poppy design.
Business Manager Linda Grout said” when I saw the wonderful cakes created by staff and residents I was really proud of them all”.
Competition organiser Richard Herne, Anchor’s Catering manager said “the Christmas cake competition is a great opportunity for our residents to use their creative skills.
Eastlake’s Chef Manager Graham Morley would like to wish Eastlake’s staff and residents all the best for the upcoming competition, he said “ each year the standard of these outstanding cakes astounds me, We cannot wait to eat them”.
