Augusta Court care home are marking Dementia Awareness week with a series of meaningful activities.
Starting the week off, the residents enjoyed a party to celebrate Augusta Court being 26 years old. Outside entertainers T42 came to the home and providing some great songs from the 1940’s and 1950’s for staff and residents who enjoyed singing along
Today the activity continued as residents enjoyed a showing of ‘snapshots of the past’ featuring reminiscence imagery of the beach and old toys and vintage sweets.
On Wednesday a musical activity that aids memory called Singing for the brain will be taking place in the home, and then on Thursday group Creative Talks are visiting to support reminisce around the 1960’s.
Samantha Kewell, Home Manager said: “Dementia Awareness Week is important to everyone here at Augusta Court and we like to ensure we mark it each year. A highlight this year will be on Friday when residents and staff have chosen to watch The Sound Of Music together, as it is a very popular film that brings back a lot of childhood memories for people.”
