Augusta Court in Chichester is taking part in National Care Home Open Day on Friday 20 June 2014 so members of the public can find out more about its thriving community spirit. It is a fantastic chance for us all to show why we are so proud to work in the care sector. There is a stigma often associated when an older person moves into care and we want to challenge that.
Anchor’s Augusta Court will be taking part in the largest international care home Mexican Wave. The wave will start in care homes in Australia and then move to Europe via Skype and reach Gloria Hunniford, the National Care Home Open Day ambassador, in England, before making its way throughout the country finally landing in Augusta Court at 12:15 pm.
We have a packed programme for the day starting with a nostalgic Eagle’s tribute band followed on by more music scores performed by community duo comprising of pianist & violinist. Highlight of the day is a joint venture of art display between our residents & 3 local community schools. We are delighted that the exhibitions will inaugurated by the Mayor & Mayoress of Chichester at 4:30 pm. Our chef manager has planned a good variety of nibbles & wine for the day to complement the community spirit.
Augusta Court’s Manager Deirdre Johnson said: “We know the older people we work with had and continue to have a positive impact on community life in Chichester and enjoy living here. On National Care Home Open Day, thousands of care homes will be putting on a show, with a rich variety of events, activities and entertainments designed for one reason and one reason only - to bring people together and build some connections’’
If you wish to attend the open day please give home manager Deirdre Johnson a call on 01243532483.
