Anchor staff from Surrey’s newest care home raised over £450 for the Alzheimer’s Society when they participated in the Surrey Memory Walk 2015 at Painshill Park, Cobham.
Staff from Moore Place care home in Esher, which opens later this year, walked 10km on Sunday 13 September to raise funds and awareness of people living with dementia.
Over 100 people gathered before the walk to warm up with a Zumba session. John Altman, who played the character Nasty Nick from Eastenders, then cut the ribbon for the walk to start. The Alzheimer’s Society volunteers were positioned around the course, encouraging the walkers.
Miranda Morgan, Home Manager at Moore Place, said, “Participating in the Memory Walk was great fun and we are so pleased to have raised over £450 for the Alzheimer’s Society and increase awareness of dementia in our local community. It was wonderful to see so many families walking in memory of their loved ones.”
