Interview with resident, Allan
"I love my apartment, the living area space is perfect!"
Resident Allan Robertson who has been living at Haldane Court in Newcastle for three years tells us about this minimalist studio way of life.
You have an amazing home and you’ve used the space well. What do you really love about your studio?
I love my apartment because it is easy to keep clean and tidy. The living area space is perfect and to use that space even more wisely, I have a pull-put sofa bed. I have a nice bathroom that I installed myself and the kitchen is adequate for my needs.
What type of property were you living at before?
I used to live in luxury two bed apartment near the Airport and though beautiful, it was very isolated whilst overlooking a large field that was very dark at night.
What inspired your décor?
I am very interested in home décor and use my ideas in my own home as well as friends. My own décor is inspired by the clean and minimalist look.
What is the easiest thing about having a studio?
The easiest thing about having a studio is the size and ease to keep it clean and tidy.
How do you work with storage?
I have no problem with storage because I have a very large cupboard in the passage that accommodates all my clothes and I use the drawers and units around the flat to store smaller things.
Would you say that everything is ‘within easy reach?’
I like the location of Haldane Court because there are several shops locally and the Metro is around the corner for travel around the city. It’s also a short walk into the centre of Newcastle.
Do you have any hobbies or anything you enjoy on a day-to-day basis?
I am in my 70’s, retired and keep busy with interests such as art, finance and antiques to helping friends with interior décor.
