Anchor are pioneering the use of modern technology and providing the older people living in our care homes with access to Apple iPads as part of our on-going commitment to person-centred activities, meaningful engagement and the highest quality of dementia care.

iPads and our Anchor Inspires dementia care

The introduction of iPads is part of our Anchor Inspires model to deliver the highest quality and standards of dementia care.

Following the largest study of its kind, research published by Anchor and the University of Worcester has found that iPads enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia. This research shows that with the right approach, using iPads helps deliver person-centred care and a range of positive outcomes for people living with dementia in care homes including increased interaction, greater inclusion and improved communication with relatives.

Personally tailored activities and meaningful engagement for everyone

Anchor care home staff are using Apple iPads to connect with all residents. These hand held devices provide Anchor’s Activity Co-ordinators with access to a huge range of new resources enabling activities to be tailored to customer’s own interests and life experiences.

We are finding that using iPads is a great way of helping capture our customer’s living stories, keeping customers in touch with long distance family members and improving communication with customers whose first language is not English.

Watch our video below to hear from mother and daughter, Kay and Melanie about how they use the iPad to continue enjoying everyday activities together.
