Supporting People PDF

Implementing Supporting People: A Guide for Support Providers

Since Supporting People is a new policy with new sets of procedures and arrangements it seems to be enormously complex. There's certainly a lot to read. But where should you start? We suggest that providers should start here with the Guide and refer to the Supporting People Guidance directly where this is suggested.

The Guide reflects current understanding of Supporting People. The main details of the policy are now clear and the Guide covers them. However, at the time of writing, there are still a few areas where the full details are not clear, such as charging. Hence the Guide does not cover

Living In A Home PDF

Living in a Home: The Experience of Living and Working in Residential Care in the 1990s

This report presents the findings of research carried out with Anchor Trust residents living in Anchor Homes. The central aim of the research was to assess residents' satisfaction with the service they were receiving. In addition the research sought to address relatives' satisfaction with residential care and their involvement in the life of the Home. The view of purchasers and providers on what constituted a "good home" was also sought. Generally the research showed high levels of satisfaction with the accommodation and services provided. The report concludes with a discussion of wider policy issues arising from the research: the impact of increasing levels of dependency; the role of relatives; quality of life issues; mixed communities of private and public clients; and issues around choice and empowerment

Not Alone PDF

Not Alone: A Good Practice Guide to working with people with Dementia in Sheltered Housing

This good practice guide follows on from Brighter Futures, a piece of research undertaken by Anchor in 1995, which examined the factors that contribute to the effectiveness of sheltered housing in supporting people with dementia. As well as recognising that the condition is far more common than many people imagine, the guide acknowledges and aims to assist the many dedicated and committed wardens and scheme managers who provide support to those with dementia. We hope this guide will further support them in the invaluable role they play.

Opening Up The Resources Of Sheltered Housing PDF

Opening up the Resources of Sheltered Housing to the Wider Community

"Opening up the Resources..." is a practical guide which follows the steps taken by Anchor Trust to make sheltered housing a base for the delivery of responsive community care services and lively social activities. The guide focuses on the methods used by Anchor to gain tenant support for the wider use of sheltered housing. It looks at the way information was collected on the needs and wishes of the community for services and how tenants were consulted and involved in the decision making process. Since this is a guide, examples of models and checklists as well as good practice points are provided. These may be copied by other social housing providers and tenants if they wish.
