An exceptional Investor in People

Assessors spoke of the ‘consistent excellence’ than runs throughout Anchor as it was accredited as an Investor in People on 23 March. The organisation, which employs more than 10,000 full and part-time staff to provide housing and care services to older people in England, was described as having an ‘outstanding approach’ to communicating with staff.

Over the course of the formal assessment external assessors quizzed more than 400 staff about their experiences of working for Anchor.

Anchor was highly praised for the understanding, enthusiasm and commitment of its staff across the organisation and its fearless approach to innovation.

Anchor Chief Executive John Belcher said: “This wasn’t a paperwork exercise, the assessor wanted to talk to people to find out what they think about working for Anchor. 

“I think the secret of our success is our flexibility in the face of change.  Roles have grown and changed to meet not only the needs and aspirations of our customers, but also those of our staff.”
