<< Back to News COVENTRY DEVELOPMENTS COMPLETED
Anchor’s newest developments in Coventry are due to open within weeks. Godiva Lodge, a specialist dementia care home and Anchor Integrated Care and Housing’s Leofric Court are the final two of five new developments for older people being built as part of a 25-year partnership with Coventry City Council. Both are due to welcome tenants in the next few weeks. Construction of the buildings was completed just a month after the first tenants moved into Henry Court, another of the new developments. Henry Court, which has 40 flats and an on-site care team, will also host community events and day centre activities for older people in the city’s Holbrooks area. Holbrooks resident Phyllis Virgo, 90, was among the first tenants to move in. After suffering a stroke a couple of years ago Mrs Virgo found that her lack of mobility made it very hard to manage in the home she had lived in for nearly 70 years. She said: “It was very important to me to stay in this area as I’ve lived here since 1939 and have many happy memories. “I love the flat. It’s large and very comfortable and the staff are marvellous, so caring and cheerful. It is good to know they are always around to help. I couldn’t ask for better.” Henry Court Scheme Manager Clare Andrews said: “As well as having brand new flats, tenants know there is a qualified care team on hand 24-hours-a-day so they have the confidence to make their own choices about what they do and when they do it. “Integrating care services with suitable housing gives people not ready to move into residential care another option which recognises the importance of independent living.” |
