Residents at Buckingham Lodge were visited by local youth charity Action4Youth this week for five days of activities culminating in a talent show on Friday 29 July.
A dozen young volunteers from the charity worked with residents, doing crafts such as painting as well as helping to raise £185 for the activities fund by bag packing at the local Tesco. They then took to the stage at the end of the week to show off their extraordinary talents.
The volunteers didn’t just perform for the residents and staff, as Buckingham Lodge opened its doors to family and friends for the afternoon and invited everyone to join in the fun.
Resident Sheila, who was one of the judges, really enjoyed the visit; “we couldn’t pick out one winner, they were all wonderful and so brave, so all the acts received prizes in the talent show!’
Julie Chanel, Customer Relations Manager at Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge, said everyone was really excited about the week. She said; “We organise a lot of different activities here as it’s important for the residents’ to be part of the community and meet new people, as well as being lots of fun!”
“Resident hairdresser Rebekah also joined in the show, as well as a resident’s talented daughter Naomi. We had juggling, dancing, guitar playing and lots of singing, it was great fun.”
