Customers at Nene Court in Wisbech have decorated their scheme and thrown a 1940’s street party to commemorate World War One and World War Two anniversaries.

Activities on the day included a raffle, tombola, Hi or Lo and lawn darts, which were enjoyed while 1940’s music was played to give an authentic feel. A number of people dressed up in outfits of the era and enjoyed a lunch of spam sandwiches, jam sandwiches, jelly, blancmange with evaporated milk and rock cakes.

There was also a large display including historical pictures of the town during the VE and VJ celebrations as well as shell casings, ration books, and posters courtesy of the local museum and voluntary donations from friends and family.
