A tenant from Kennington has been shortlisted for a Creative Champion Award. Teresa Warman, 78 years old, who lives at Anchor’s Edith Court in Upper Road, was nominated by Rachel Fairbairn, Scheme Manager, for her special skills.

Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Creative Champion, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Teresa Warman, who has lived at Edith Court for five years, is thrilled to be shortlisted for a Creative Champion Award. She said: “It is nice to be recognised for the things I do for the scheme and individual tenants. Thank you.”

Rachel Fairbairn, Edith Court Scheme Manager, who is impressed by Teresa’s talents, said: “Teresa is very skilful at making all sorts of things, including lovely quilts. The tenants are lucky as she can also do alterations for them too!”

A customer panel has come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
