A tenant from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex has been shortlisted for a Best Neighbour award. Christopher Isbell, 79 years old, who lives at Anchor’s St Clements Court in Parry Drive, was nominated by his fellow residents for always going the extra mile helping his neighbours.

Almost 300 nominations were received for the 2016 Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards launched in September with six categories: Green-fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Creative Champion, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Christopher Isbell has lived at St Clements Court for 11 years. He said: “I can’t believe it. I’m very thankful for the nomination!”

Ronald Beacham who is a one of the residents who nominated Christopher, said: “He puts a smile on everyone’s face and will help anyone in any way possible with assistance or advice. He helped me when I was ill a few months ago in so many ways. I call him ‘Mr Anchor’ as he indeed is an anchor to all of us and a great, reliable neighbour we can all turn to.”

A customer panel has come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
