Anchor’s St. Anne’s Care Home in Cornwall kicked-off Blue Monday with an uplifting variety show for the customers and staff.

The show, organised by handymen Peter Lewis and Richard Newman, included singing, poetry reading, an ocarina recital, a comedy act and a customer’s 80th birthday celebration.

Blue Monday is the name given to the third Monday in January which is meant to be the most depressing day of the year.

‘We have had great feedback from this and it has been lovely to see the customers engaging with staff. In fact, it went down so well that we are planning another one for the summer’ said Wendy Foy, Care Manager at St. Anne’s.

The evening was also a fond farewell to Gina Shiers, Business Manager at St. Anne’s. Gina stared as deputy manager 14 years ago before moving into the role of business manager. She remains with Anchor moving into a new role as a Care and Dementia Specialist / Regional Business Manager.
